Your conversations never leave your Mac.

Clairo is a menu-bar app that runs entirely on your Mac. It reads the Slack or Zalo thread you have open through the macOS Accessibility API and drafts replies using an AI model that you install and run locally (LM Studio, Ollama, or 9router). There is no Clairo account, no Clairo cloud, and no Clairo server. We do not — and technically cannot — see your messages.

Nothing. Clairo does not collect, transmit, store, or log any personal information. We do not use analytics, telemetry, crash reporting, cookies, advertising identifiers, or tracking of any kind. You do not create an account and you never give us your name, email, or payment details to use the app.

When you press the hotkey, Clairo reads the contents of the active Slack or Zalo thread on your screen and sends that text only to the local AI backend running on your own machine (for example localhost:1234 for LM Studio). That text is processed in memory to generate a draft and is discarded when you close the popup. It is never written to a remote server and never sent to us.

We do not sell, rent, trade, or share your data with anyone, for any purpose, ever. We have no advertisers, data brokers, or third-party partners. Because no data is collected in the first place, there is nothing to sell or share.

All AI inference happens locally on your Mac using the backend you chose. Once your model is installed, Clairo works fully offline — no internet connection is required to read a thread or draft a reply. The only network traffic Clairo makes is to the local server address you configure in Settings.

9router is an optional backend that routes requests to whichever provider you connect. If you choose to connect 9router to a cloud provider, your thread text will leave your device and be governed by that provider’s privacy policy — not ours. To keep Clairo fully private, connect 9router only to a local provider (such as Ollama or LM Studio on the same machine). This is your choice and fully under your control.

Clairo asks for macOS Accessibility permission. This is the standard system mechanism that lets the app read the text of the Slack window you have focused, so it can understand the conversation. Clairo does not record your screen, log your keystrokes, or access any app other than the one you activate it in.

Clairo stores nothing about you, so there is nothing to retain, export, or delete on our side. Your app preferences (such as your chosen backend endpoint) are saved locally on your own Mac and can be cleared at any time by removing the app.

Clairo is a productivity tool intended for general audiences and does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.

If we ever update this policy, we will revise the date at the top of this page. Our core commitment will not change: Clairo does not collect or sell your data, and your conversations stay on your device.
